Use Function > Borers to activate the boring function.

Schiffli machines have built-in borer knives located beneath the needle line. With Borers activated, each needle penetration becomes a borer hole, regardless of selected stitch type. Schiffli borer knives have four tapering edges. These can cut holes of varying size, depending on how far they penetrate the fabric. In principle, the cut is as large as the borer knife diameter at any given depth.

Borer depth is relevant only to designs digitized using ES Schiffli. You can control the default depth as part of the machine format definition.

The depth, and hence the size of cut hole, is determined by up to 13 increments. Borer depth is specified slightly differently for Plauen (1-13) and Saurer (0-12). Set the default value to match the settings on your machine. The Starting borer depth field defaults to:

Adjust the starting borer depth as preferred.
